The Nintendo Joy-Con (L) Pastel Purple and (R) Pastel Green feel like the quiet cousin of the louder colorways. One side is a soft lavender that almost looks gray in dim light, the other a muted mint that reminds me of old Game Boy Color cases. Slip them onto any Switch and the whole setup suddenly looks friendlier, less toy-like. You lose nothing in the process – still the same motion sensors, the same weirdly precise rumble, the same amiibo reader. Some folks swear by those bigger third-party grips with hall-effect sticks these days, and yeah, drift might never happen on those. But when I hand one pastel Joy-Con to my niece for a quick round of Animal Crossing co-op, everything just works, no weird pairing hiccups, no missing features.
About this item
- Play any way the moment calls for it. Slide them on the screen for solo trips, click them into the grip when you’re on the couch, or split them for instant multiplayer. Most aftermarket controllers pick one mode and stick with it.
- Colors that don’t scream. Pastel purple left, pastel green right – they look especially good against the white OLED model or even the plain gray one.
- Rumble you can actually feel differently. Pouring tea in Zelda feels different from catching a star – cheap replacements usually just buzz the same way every time.
- Motion aiming you can still trust. Line up a headshot in Splatoon 3 or steer by tilting in Mario Kart; these nintendo switch joy con rarely need recalibrating, while some third-party ones drift off center after a week.
- Amiibo scanning on the right one. Tap Wolf Link or the new Tears of the Kingdom Zelda and the game notices right away. Plenty of knockoffs skip the NFC chip to cut costs.
- Battery that keeps up. You’ll probably get close to a full day of play before they complain, and they charge while the Switch sits in the dock.
