Legal Information
The Petzl GRIGRI exists only for climbing and proper rope-access work. Climbing drops people hard and fast when things go wrong. Nobody should touch one without real training from an instructor who can spot a flipped diagram in two seconds.Look it over every time you pull it out of the bag. A cam that sticks a little, a handle with a hairline crack, or a rope groove worn shiny and deep—any of that and the device belongs in the trash, not on your belay loop. Stick to ropes between 8.5 and 11 mm. Skinnier ones can slip right through under body weight; thicker ones jam and refuse to feed.
