Legal Information
The Petzl I’D Evac is built only for rescue lowering and emergency self-evacuation from height. One wrong move here drops people, sometimes from a burning building or a stalled tower crane. Check it every single shift. A sticky anti-panic handle, a worn cam, a cracked yellow cover, or a rope groove that looks polished smooth means retire it today—no second chances. Only run ropes between 10 and 11.5 mm. Skinnier and the cam can slip under panic load; thicker and the handle locks up when seconds count. The anti-panic function helps, but it still demands a calm brake hand. Jerk the handle too hard in a real fire evac and the device stops dead while the rope melts and the victim hangs. Happens more than rescue teams like to admit.
